Wilber Oswaldo Nunez-Menendez, 25, formerly of Crownsville, has been taken into custody for his alleged role in a November 2020 shooting that left Annapolis resident Ronal Alcidis Maldonado Quijada, 52, dead and a 28-year-old hospitalized, authorities announced on Monday, May 15.

According to police, on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, officers were called to Brick Church Road in Edgewater to investigate a reported shooting, which was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence.

Upon arrival they found the two victims, and Nunez-Menedez was ultimately identified as the main suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday, May 11, Nunez-Menendez was extradited from El Salvador to Maryland by US Marshals and handed over to the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.

Nunez-Menedez was charged with:

  • First-degree murder;
  • Attempted first-degree murder;
  • Two counts of first-degree assault;
  • Two counts of second-degree assault;
  • Two counts of reckless endangerment;
  • Multiple firearm offenses.

The fatal shooting remains under investigation.
